Kiwanis - Changing the World, AGAIN!
Kiwanis International Foundation has announced our second World Service Project. Once again we will partner with UNICEF to eliminate neo-natal and maternal tetnus. Tetnus spores live in the soil through out the world and can enter the body through any open cut. Each year, 60,000 babies and 30,000 mothers die from lockjaw cause by the tetnus spore. These deaths can be prevented with a series of three shots costing a total of $1.80 per recipient. We plan to raise $110 million over five years to fund UNICEF field work to end these needless deaths.
Our annual golf tournament will be held at Cahoon Plantation on 10 Sept. Now is the time to start lining up hole sponsors, prizes and participants for one of our largest fund raisers.
