26 Sept Meeting Program

Traveler Jakob Stull raises a glass with Louis Scott, owner/proprietor of the Three Tun Tavern at the Great Bridge.  The two docents from the Great Bridge Battlefield and Historical Waterways Park, are deep into research about life in Great Bridge just before the Revolutionary War. Their work will help ensure the accuracy of the exhibits in the new Visitors Center which broke ground on 22 Sept. Both visitors were amazed at the style of food served at Jin's Asian Cuisine.  Except for the beer, it was nothing like the fare at Master Scott's tavern.

Family Fun Day Huge Success

On 23 Sept,at Northwest River Park's Family Fun Day, we set records for oiur conceessions, both in sales and profits. (All profits go to our service activities). We took in more than twice as much as we have ever done before.  Big shout out to the Kiwanians, family, and friends who made the day possible by, according to them, "working their butts off".

Reading is Fundamental Kick Off

We had a great start to the year at Broadlawn Head Start, thanks in part to the wonderful books donated by the REACH Foundation and the participation of the State Police Mascot Trooper Teddy who helped each child select 2 books to take home.

Getting Trooper Teddy out the door was a challenge.  The kids didn't want him to leave.
